What is TEDx?

About TED

TED is a nonprofit organisation devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 30 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives.

The two annual TED Conferences invite the world's leading thinkers and doers to speak for a maximum of 18 minutes. Many of these talks are then made available, free, at TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman.

The annual TED Conference takes place each spring in Vancouver, British Columbia. TED's media initiatives include, where new TED Talks are posted daily. TED Translators provide subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as translations from volunteers worldwide; TED-ed is the educational initiative. TED has established The Audacious Project that takes a collaborative approach to fund ideas with the potential to create change at a thrilling scale. TEDx supports individuals or groups in hosting local, self- organised TED-style events around the world, TED Fellows program helps world-changing innovators from around the globe to amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.
About TEDx, x = independently organised event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks videos speakers combine to spark in-depth discussion and connection.

These local, self-organised events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organised TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organised. (Subject to specific rules and regulations.)

Man plans...

Life is ahead of us. Future is infinite, the world is changing and the start of adult life is more than determinative. But what do we need to be prepared for this in the 21st century? Can we see clear and make wise decisions when it comes to planning our lives? Or is it only uncertainty and drifting that line our ways?

One of the most important questions in relation to future is having a relationship, children and family because they determine everything even if we have or don’t have one. We come from families, we live in families, and our families feed us and support us. But where is the place of family in the 21st century? What changes have taken place? What is family about today? What does family mean in the future and what does it determine? How can we do it well?

A lot we think about family and marriage is based on beliefs and myths. Our values are important. We consider our identities important. But life and reality are also important. The balance of the two is vital. Do we need to decide between bonding and freedom?

And finally comes the big question: is there a recipe or a certain way? There is of course no single universal solution that can be applied by everyone. But we know a lot, and we can share our knowledge with others. We have something to build on. And there are things we can only feel...

There is a day, TEDxDunapart on the 7th of November, 2019 when we will have the chance to share an exciting journey on this topic with domestic and international presenters, important questions, surprising truths, unsettling emotions and releasing laughs.
